Details
A mug is the perfect first project for those new to clay, a date night, or a custom gift for a loved one. Build the basic structure of a functional mug and handle and decorate to your heart's content. Once you’ve got the method down pat, make a pair. Espresso cups, soup mugs, or big ol’ coffee mugs, drinking out of something you made yourself never gets old. In this workshop you’ll learn: ~ How to hand build a slab cylinder ~ Attaching a base using scratch and slip ~ Various handle making methods ~ Decorating with stamps, carving, surface texture and glazes After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a one-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single color that we will glaze for you. After glazing the piece will be glaze fired, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. We will always contact you to pick up. REGISTRATION CLOSES ONLINE AT 9PM THE EVENING BEFORE THE SCHEDULED WORKSHOP. TO REGISTER ON THE DAY-OF THE WORKSHOP, PLEASE CALL US AT 778-757-3274. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment.
