Did you take our beginner hand building course (or have 21 hours of recent instruction) and absolutely fall in love with creating sculptural pieces? If you’d like to dive deeper into continuing honing your craft sculpting ceramics, then take the next step in your artistic journey in our Level 2.5 Surface Decoration course! In this interpretation of our Level 2 course, you will continue to work with traditional hand building techniques with a focus on sculptural construction on a larger scale than in Level 1, up to 1500in3 (10”x10”x15”). Now that you’re past the beginner stages, we will get you planning, building, and glazing a sculpture of your own design! Work with your instructor to learn how to build your piece using advanced tools, how to support your piece as you construct it, maintain moisture levels in clay when you’re creating BIG, and gain troubleshooting techniques to use as your piece grows and for after your course is completed. Here's what to look forward to in this course: ~ Planning a sculpture from conception to fruition ~ Building larger shapes/silhouettes up to 1500in3 (10”x10”x15”) ~ How to effectively work with and maintain pieces that are BIG ~ Gaining skills to use advanced tools during Open Studio You will be able to take home 1 completed sculpture by the end of the course, up to 1500in3 (10”x10”x15”); the goal is to take home pieces that YOU want to make. If you are interested in perfecting your ideal functional piece, glaze testing combinations, or surface textures, please see our other iterations of Level 2.5. As always, we are here to give you a BOOST of confidence and guidance as you continue your journey into the world of creating with clay. When the class is finished, please feel welcome to use the Eccentric Artist Studio and our advanced tools as resources to continue your journey into the vast world of clay. When you register, if you did not take your introductory course with us, please email us proof of previous experience. The best form is the receipt from your previous course. If you have any questions regarding the prerequisites for this course, please contact us.
